Slava Goloubov

From humble beginnings

When I am passionate, I am productive. You might not believe it, but I didn’t always look like this; however when I tapped into that wellspring of energy that is passion, it gave me the motivation to devote myself to the discipline of movement. I am willing, and excited, to be a beginner again often – this keeps me humble and with a sense of perspective along the path. From yoga, through martial arts and capoeira, to my most recent explorations of ballet, I am always attempting to throw myself into the pot of new lessons, patterns, and challenges. I believe this will translate into a longevity in my own practice as well as the information I am able to distill & deliver to my students.

I welcome you to walk with me on this path and explore the true potential that I know you have inside of you.

Breathing is a big deal

Breath – what’s the big deal?  Here’s my point – nothing lifts you up like a solid, deep breath. It’s commonly referred to as: a life force, purifier of toxic energy, a de-stressor (or a source of anxiety), it is how our organs receive oxygen and is an agent to help find pauses in time or pauses before reactions. It is symbolic in its power as the giver of life from the first breath in as a newborn to the final expiration at the end of life.

Scientifically, slow, deep, rhythmic breathing causes a reflex stimulation of the parasympatheticnervous system – the rest, relax and digest part of the nervous system – therefore reducing the heart rate, relaxing the muscles, relaxing the mind and normalizing brain function.

Carolyn Anne Budgell

An Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher since 2008, Carolyn committed to meditation after years of teaching yoga because it changed her life above all other endeavours: it highlighted how to shift unhealthy behaviours and relationships. Living a mindful life meant no more hiding behind drugs, being a know-it-all or a victim and simply getting real with how to act consciously and compassionately. A tough road towards softness, but incredibly worthy of practice.

Carolyn has been leading meditation since 2010 in all types of settings: one-on-one, intimate groups, on international retreats, at the Wanderlust festivals and in the corporate world. She has studied with teachers from the schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Zen, notably Adyashanti, Tara Brach and Reggie Ray. You can find audio meditations with Carolyn on various websites: Mala Collective, lululemon, Insight Timer, MOMENT and Tuja Wellness.  Carolyn guides her workshops and retreats in a simple and accessible language. Carolyn firmly believes that meditation is not just about being still and silent, but also about a willingness to look within, accept the situation and then work to create change. In this way, every aspect of life becomes a meditation.

Curriculum

Strength, Power, Control and Flexibility

Beginning with a full-body evaluation, we assess, reframe, and build your movement foundations around the pillars of Strength, Power, Control and Flexibility. After solidifying your foundations we expand your movement vocabulary, challenge your mind-body patterning, and tie it all together for an exploration of flow state.

Mindfulness, Breath and Brain Science

We start with an examination of mindset, and an education on the “why” behind meditation. The curriculum then offers a comprehensive toolkit of meditation practices to support all realms of life. Our aim is to teach you to navigate between movement and stillness; manage stress, improve focus, and live a life in balance.

Holistic Eating and Nourishment

What does it mean to eat holistically? This curriculum brings us back to nature, without any diet dogma. The focus is on sourcing real, whole-foods, and directing the adoption of a set of guidelines, principles and tools which make eating healthy, easy and affordable; making a lifestyle of greater vitality more accessible and sustainable.

The next cycle launches October 2018
